It is very unlikely that you are interested in watching a time lapse video of us grinding and epoxying a 5500 square foot concrete floor. Too bad, that’s all we have for you today. 🙂
This is 3 days of video sped up and reduced to 1 minute and 57 seconds. We started with a 5,500 sf concrete floor painted about 5 years ago that was in fairly good condition but with some flaking and some cracks and divots in the concrete.
The process in very very brief highlights:
- Renovate the walls first if needed. You don’t want paint or residue on the new floor
- Clean the floor
- Grind the paint off of the floor. *We found the best tool for this job is called The Viper, made by Werkmaster.
- Clean the floor.
- Grind more.
- Clean again.
- Put on full face respirator. The epoxy fumes are nasty!
- Lay down coat 1 and spread it out with a squidgy
- Let it dry for 12 hours
- Lay down coat 2, let dry for 12 hours
- Lay down coat 3, let dry for 72 hours minimum.
That should do it. Your concrete should look like it has a layer of glass on it. Sweet!
Now its ready to put hot tubs on, or cars, or whatever you have.
